Glenthorne High School

The Brief:

Glenthorne High School is looking to advertise its sixth form academies in order to recruit students from other schools. You have been asked to produce a 25-30 second advertisement for one of the academies. Glenthorne is really keen to portray the academies as fun and highly educational, but demanding. The audience will be potential students (e.g. 14-16 year olds with a keen interest and talent in the subject area) and their parents. In each advertisement you will need to include:

·       The Glenthorne Logo
·       Footage of facilities
·       The Academy logo
·       A slogan
·       Footage of students
·       Contact details/next open day details

The sixth form academies are:
Golf Football Drama Music Dance

It is proposed that the advert  will be 30 seconds in  duration, filmed at Glenthorne high school, using there classrooms and there drama facilities and edited at our Sutton facility.

The  advert will be aimed at 14-16 year olds. This has been identified through the research i have done into who the academy i have been given is aimed at.

The advert  will show the academy and it will give examples of what happens in the academy. The advert will represent the academy for what it is trying to do and show.

The advert  will be aired on channel 4 at around 4/5 o'clock, whcih is a time that kids of the age 14/16 will be watching the TV.

Several locations have been visited and a shortlist has been drawn up:

Suggested locations are:

School hall
DH3 (drama room)
Classroom

The advert will include the following:

a)     Award ceremony
b)     Student receiving the award
c)     Student dreaming in classroom
d)     Student woken up
e)     Voice over telling audience about the academy

Structure (Initial Ideas)

The advert will be in colour and in DV PAL Widescreen

The advert starts at an awards ceremony, something similar to the Oscars, and an award is being given out.  The person who is handing out the award calls up the winner of the award, and the person who comes up to collect the award is a boy/girl in a Glenthorne uniform. They collect the award and go up to the microphone to thank people, as he goes into his speech the scene fades to a class room with the boy/girl day dreaming and in real life he/she is just as school student dreaming about becoming a star. The voice over then says ' if you want to turn your dreams into reality, come to the Glenthorne Academy'.
