Final Edit

-->
After receiving some good and helpful feedback from my client I re editing my advert by adding in more clips and editing in different more professional ways so that the final outcome will be more professional.

I have added in 4 m ore shots into my final edit, I have added a shot of someone putting the lights up in a drama room and then the camera panning up to show the lights shinning up on the stage, by adding these shots I am showing the audience the sort of facilities that the drama academy can offer.  I then added in shots that were very similar but instead of putting the lights up the lights were being put down, I liked these shots because these shots are symbolizing a beginning and an end to the advert whilst showing off the facilities.

I am very close to finishing the final edit and when it is done It will be clear to see the improvements that I have made from my rough edit it to my final edit.

-->
Here is my final outcome, I have worked hard and spent lots of time editing and correction things in my advert to make it look like a professional advertisement that can be played on TV             or online to get the attention of 14-16 year olds and try and get them to consider taking the drama academy as one of there options whilst studying A levels.

I am very happy with my final outcome as there are lots of good shots, and I have edited it professionally,  using final cut. I have also used voice over in an effective way that engages the audience with quick snappy tag lines but also with giving them the option of finding out more information on the website.

I think that the final outcome I have produced will meet the clients expectations and they will be very happy with my work as I have not only produced what they wanted I have produced it to a very high standard.

uploading all my work

Today I uploaded all of my footage from my memory card onto the Macs and then put them into final cut where I can now start to edit the footage and put together a rough version of my advert. Before I put my footage into final cut I put it into Imovie where I optimized the footage into widescreen so it would fit into the frame size on final cut.
When I was putting my videos into final cut I had my first chance to look in-depth at all of the footage that I had got on a big screen. Once I looked through I was still happy with the footage I had filmed but I realized further that there were some clips that needed to be re filmed or edited to make them suitable for my advert. There is clips I have used were I am tracking my actor and it is shaky and blurry and it just was not acceptable to have in my advert so I had to delete the clip.

Rushes

Today I filmed clips for my final advertisement for the first time; I filmed in various places nut mainly around the drama area in Glenthorne high school. I filmed a variety of shots so that when editing I could narrow down the best ones to use in my final advert. I think that some of the shots that I tried to film were a little bit blurry so if I film again I will have to make sure that I double check that the camera is in full focus.

My favorite shot of the filming was when my actor walks in and I filmed it from a good angle that made it look realistic as if he had walked in from off stage. My worst shot was a shot of the two actors and I did pay enough attention and I have chopped off the top of the heads of them, this as because I was not paying enough attention and I had to re film the shots. All in all the footage I have gained is good and I am happy with what I have done.

Evaluation Before Peer Assesment

My advertisement I believe that my advert is a good advert and it portrays all of the elements that I wanted it to; it has a clear message, a good range of camera shots and is creative. My favourite shot is the close up shot of the trophy at the end with the logos, I think this shot works well because it has there trophy that is used earlier on in the advert and I have put it into the left hand side of the shot sitting on the corner of a shelf this shows that I have paid attention and used the rule of thirds. By putting the trophy into the left hand side I created space for the logos which were key to have in in my advertisement. I think the best part of the advertisement is the small narrative at the fake awards ceremony. I created this fake awards ceremony because I didn’t want to have lots of different clips of different people doing different types of drama I though it would be more engaging for the audience if they could have a small piece of narrative to actually watch in the advert. It was very hard to create a setting that could have been an awards ceremony but to then have to add in various sounds and use a number r of different shots so that when I started editing I was able to make it at least look some what realistic was very hard. To create the narrative clip I used, tracking shots, long shots, mid shots and close ups. I think there are some parts of the advert that I could have been more clinical on, there are some shots that are possibly rushed and are a tiny bit unclear. An example of this is the shot were I am tracking the person who won the award at the beginning, I follow them from behind and the camera starts out of focus but does finally go into focus. This can make the advertisement look slightly cheap and rushed. From my research I had found lots of different advertisement that were advertising for ‘stage coaching’ or ‘stage schools’ the thing I realised was that none of these adverts had a narrative to them they all used clips of the different types of things that they offer but the adverts were just clips of drama and voice over. I noticed this trend and I didn’t want to create an advertisement that was the same as all of the others so this is why I decided to mix it up a bit. I still have used some clips of the drama space and some performing but it is a mixture of that with a narrative and voice over. I think by doing this I will gain the audience’s attention because it will clearly be a little bit different from the other adverts they may have seen before.

Story Boards of Music Video

Pictures of Editing

These are pictures of me using my planning documents to edit my music video, I have used these so that I can edit effectively and will have something to look back at whilst I'm editing do that i know exactly what I'm doing and where and when I need to do it. There is also a video that shows me using my edit plan whilst I am editing my work.

Rough Edit Feedback

I have now just had feedback given to me from my client who I am making the advert for, she has given me some expert feedback and told me the things that I am doing right and most importantly told me the things that I need to do better to meet her and her companies expectations.

Her feedback was very similar to the feedback I have given myself but it is very helpful to here such things from my client because I now know I understand my client to understand what I have to do.

Rough Edit Advert

This is my is my rough edit of my advertisement, I am ok with the early outcome but I am very aware that there is work to do, to make it reach its expectations. I have done some basic editing on some clips to make the advert but now I need to do some more professional editing to make it look like a professional advert.  Also I need to add in a voice over at the end to tell the audience some key information, also I can use the voice over to further engage the audience. The advert is currently 17 seconds long so I feel that I need to add in more clips to make it the correct 20-30 seconds long.

Like I have previously said there is work to do but I am happy with the main body of the advert as there are some good shots a some good creative clips that I have filmed. one of my favorite clips in the rough edit is the clip when the camera is looking up at my actor doing his speech and by slightly adding a tilt to the camera so it is looking up you are showing that the person looking at the camera has some high status.  This is something that the actor does have in this clip because he has just won an award.

It is proposed that the music video  will be of 3 minutes in  duration, filmed at 270 Glastonbury Road and Glenthorne High school  and edited at our Sutton facility.

The Music video  will be aimed at 16-18 year olds

For this video I have an idea and I have decided what I want to do. I want there to be mainly 1 person  in the video one a boy, the boy will be the one lip syncs the song and who will play the guitar at some points.  The narrative will start in a bath tub where they boy has fallen into and is  alone, then other narratives will be in a performance space and in a park/garden.  The performance scenes will be the main artist lip syncing and playing the guitar at the same time.  The costumes will match the locations and all the clothes will be casual and when there are scenes outside the costumes will still be casual but obviously thee will be coats and out door clothes warn.  There will lots of moving camera shots one I will use the dolly back wards shot, which is when someone walks towards the camera as the camera moves back.

Several locations have been visited and a shortlist has been drawn up:

Suggested locations are:

Perforane space

House

Bathroom

Garden

The music video will include the following:

a)      Animation

b)      Tracking shot

c)     Lip syncing

d)     Playing the guitar

These conventions will all come together in my music video; the main character will be lip syncing all the way through the play and there will be different shots of the character whilst he is lip syncing and also there will be shot where he is playing the guitar along with the music. Also in the music video I will have animations that run through the video telling there own story.
