evaluation 2

My advertisement I believe that my advert is a good advert and it portrays all of the elements that I wanted it to; it has a clear message, a good range of camera shots and is creative. My favorite shot is the close up shot of the trophy at the end with the logos, I think this shot works well because it has there trophy that is used earlier on in the advert and I have put it into the left hand side of the shot sitting on the corner of a shelf this shows that I have paid attention and used the rule of thirds. By putting the trophy into the left hand side I created space for the logos, which were key to have in my advertisement.

I think the best part of the advertisement is the small narrative at the fake awards ceremony. I created this fake awards ceremony because I didn’t want to have lots of different clips of different people doing different types of drama I though it would be more engaging for the audience if they could have a small piece of narrative to actually watch in the advert. It was very hard to create a setting that could have been an awards ceremony but to then have to add in various sounds and use a number r of different shots so that when I started editing I was able to make it at least look somewhat realistic was very hard. To create the narrative clip I used, tracking shots, long shots, mid shots and close ups. I think there are some parts of the advert that I could have been more clinical on, there are some shots that are possibly rushed and are a tiny bit unclear. An example of this is the shot were I am tracking the person who won the award at the beginning, I follow them from behind and the camera starts out of focus but does finally go into focus. This can make the advertisement look slightly cheap and rushed.

From my research I had found lots of different advertisement that were advertising for ‘stage coaching’ or ‘stage schools’ the thing I realized was that none of these adverts had a narrative to them they all used clips of the different types of things that they offer but the adverts were just clips of drama and voice over. I noticed this trend and I didn’t want to create an advertisement that was the same as all of the others so this is why I decided to mix it up a bit. I still have used some clips of the drama space and some performing but it is a mixture of that with a narrative and voice over. I think by doing this I will gain the audience’s attention because it will clearly be a little bit different from the other adverts they may have seen before.

i have used the narrative of having an award ceremony with someone being given an award because it fits the target audience. It evolves someone being given an award for ‘acting’ and it involves someone to act out the scene so I am trying to clearly show links to drama throughout the advert making it easy for the audience to realize that it is an advert with a strong connection with drama.  So I think that this advert is appropriate for the 14-16 year old audience that I am aiming and I also believe that my target audience will easily understand the things I have discussed.

I have been given strong feedback from my client, I showed them my first draft of my advert, which they watched and then sent me a video of them analyzing it and then telling me what they would like to see in the advert to make it better. They told me I needed to add, a voiceover, a more variety of clips and a stronger starting shot. Once this feedback was given to me I went back onto final cut then began editing some more clips in a better way and then added my voice over, I then watched back through the video comparing it to the feed back the I was given. I then decided it would be appropriate to go back out and film a few more clips to fill out the advert and make it more interesting for the viewer. Once these extra clips had been filmed and then edited the advert was finished and looked very important.

In my advert I have decided to use the technique of humor to gage my audience I have used humor by creating a spoof awards evening were some one is given an award for best actor. I personally believe that humor is the easiest and most effective way of engaging my target audience. I think this because it is easier to make them laugh then to try and understand them because I don’t know them in that way. Also I believe that I am showing a solution to a problem because, if someone at Glenthorne doesn’t want to do 4 a level they cans see this advert and realize that they can do an academy as one of there choices.
